Lead licensing in New York
New York does not run its own lead certification program for contractors. EPA administers both the abatement rules and the renovation, repair and painting rules in New York, so a firm working on a pre-1978 home is certified by EPA, not the state. You can search EPA's Lead-Safe Certified Firm locator. Cities may have extra local rules, so also check with your local health department and EPA's site for current requirements.
