Oregon requires contractors who perform asbestos abatement projects to hold a license from the Department of Environmental Quality, and the supervisors and workers must be certified. Getting a license involves training, proof of past abatement experience, and registration with the Construction Contractors Board. Mold licensing in Oregon

Oregon does not have a state license or certification requirement for mold inspection, testing or removal. The Construction Contractors Board says a special license is not required for mold cleanup, though general contractor licensing can apply to construction-type work. Ask any mold company what training it has, such as voluntary IICRC certification, and get a written scope of work and proof of insurance. Lead licensing in Oregon

Oregon runs its own lead programs. A contractor with a Construction Contractors Board license who renovates or paints homes built before 1978 needs a Lead-Based Paint Renovation license from that board, while other firms, such as property managers, become certified through the Oregon Health Authority. Lead abatement, inspection and risk assessment professionals are certified by the Health Authority. Ask for the credential on record and check the agencies' sites for current requirements.

Radon licensing in Oregon

Oregon does not have a state license or certification requirement for radon testing or mitigation. The Oregon Health Authority says the state does not certify radon professionals. Many radon companies hold voluntary national credentials from NRPP or NRSB, so ask for proof of certification, and ask about any contractor licenses that apply to the work, such as electrical work. Check OHA's site for current information.
