Mold licensing in New York
New York is one of the few states that licenses mold work. The State Department of Labor issues separate licenses for mold assessors, assessment contractors, remediation contractors and mold abatement workers and supervisors. Owners working on their own property are among the limited exceptions. The department's open-data listing of mold contractor licenses shows the license type, number and expiration, so you can check the license on record. Check the agency's site for current requirements.
