Licensing in Utah

Asbestos licensing in Utah

Utah requires individuals who do regulated asbestos abatement, and companies that contract for hire to do asbestos abatement, renovation or demolition in regulated facilities, to be certified by the Division of Air Quality. Work in single or multifamily residential structures where the person does not live is covered, but homeowners working on the home where they live are generally not subject to the rule. The division posts a list of certified companies, so check the certification on record and the division's site for current requirements.

Lead licensing in Utah

Utah runs its own lead-based paint program through the Division of Air Quality, which certifies contractors and professionals who do lead-based paint work in older housing and child-occupied facilities. The division's program page helps you find a certified professional and explains how contractors become certified. Use it to check the certification on record, and check the division's site for current requirements.

Radon licensing in Utah

Utah requires radon mitigation systems to be installed by a contractor who holds a Utah contractor license and a national radon mitigation certification. For radon testing, the state recommends national certification, but we did not find a separate state license for testers. Handyman registration does not cover installing radon systems. Ask for both credentials on record. Check the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control's site for current requirements.
