Asbestos licensing in Texas
Texas requires a Department of State Health Services license or registration for people and companies that handle asbestos in public buildings. State law's definition of a public building leaves out a private residence and apartment buildings of four or fewer units, so a typical single-family home job may fall outside that license requirement. Federal rules and local requirements can still apply. Use the DSHS online license search to check what is on record, and check the agency's site for current requirements.
