Lead licensing in Massachusetts
In Massachusetts, a company paid to renovate, repair or paint a home built before 1978 and disturb more than small amounts of painted surface must be a lead-safe renovation contractor holding a state license, with a certified supervisor on site. Lead paint removal to meet the state Lead Law uses deleading contractors who hold their own state license. The Department of Labor Standards publishes lists of both. Check the license on record, and check the agency's site for current requirements.
