Idaho does not have a state license or certification requirement for mold inspection, testing or removal. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare says no state law requires mold inspections or sets cleanup standards. Ask any mold company what training it has, such as voluntary IICRC certification, and get a written scope of work and proof of insurance. Idaho has no state lead certification program of its own, so EPA runs both the renovation rule and the lead abatement program there. A firm paid to renovate, repair or paint a pre-1978 home or child-occupied facility should be an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm with a certified renovator, and abatement and risk assessment professionals are certified by EPA.
