Asbestos licensing in Iowa
Iowa requires asbestos workers, contractors and supervisors to hold licenses for asbestos projects, unless they work for their own employer and that employer is exempt from the permit requirement. The licenses come from the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing and are renewed annually. Businesses that remove or encapsulate asbestos for others also need a permit. The department links a list of permitted contractors on Iowa's open data portal. Check the agency's site for current requirements.
