Asbestos licensing in Illinois
Illinois requires an Illinois Department of Public Health license for asbestos contractors, supervisors, workers and inspectors on commercial and public buildings and schools. Illinois EPA says its asbestos rules do not apply to privately owned homes and apartment buildings of four or fewer units, but it still advises using a qualified contractor for removal. IDPH posts directories of the asbestos contractors and workers who hold IDPH licenses. Local rules may also apply, so check the agency's site for current requirements.
