Asbestos licensing in Massachusetts
In Massachusetts, the Department of Labor Standards licenses asbestos abatement contractors, supervisors and workers, along with inspectors, project designers and others. The state Attorney General's home guide says most work that affects asbestos materials must be done by contractors the state has trained and certified. MassDEP and local boards of health also oversee asbestos projects. Ask for the license on record, and check the agencies' sites for current requirements.
