Lead licensing in Colorado
Colorado requires lead-based paint abatement in homes built before 1978 and in child-occupied facilities to be done by firms and individuals certified by the state health department, under Regulation 19. Ordinary renovation, repair and painting that disturbs old paint is covered by EPA's federal Lead-Safe program, not the state. Ask any abatement firm for its state certification and use EPA's locator for renovation firms. Check the agencies' sites for current requirements.
