Lead licensing in Louisiana
Louisiana requires anyone performing a full lead abatement project in homes built before 1978 or in child-occupied facilities to be accredited by the Department of Environmental Quality. Abatement contractors also need the department's approval and a lead abatement license from the state contractors licensing board. Renovation, repair and painting that disturbs old paint falls under EPA's federal Lead-Safe program. Check the agencies' sites for current requirements, and use EPA's locator for renovation firms.
