Asbestos licensing in South Carolina
South Carolina requires an asbestos abatement contractor to obtain a license from the Department of Environmental Services before doing abatement work. The contractor's license is good for one year and depends on having a supervisor with a license affiliated with the company, and individual supervisors and workers must hold licenses as well. The state's rule leaves out residential buildings with four or fewer dwelling units. We did not find a public roster, so ask for the license on record and check the department's site for current requirements.
