Asbestos licensing in New Jersey
New Jersey requires companies that abate asbestos to hold a license from the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development, and individuals who do the work need state permits. The Department of Community Affairs separately certifies the monitoring firms and technicians who oversee abatement. The state does not post a public license search on the pages we reviewed, but it lists a phone number for contractor lists. Check the license on record, and check the agency's site for current requirements.
