Asbestos licensing in Michigan
Michigan requires a company or individual hired to remove or encapsulate friable asbestos at someone else's property to hold an asbestos abatement contractor license from the state's MIOSHA Asbestos Program. A few trades, such as electricians, plumbers and residential builders, are exempt for incidental work. The program has a contractor license search. Use it to check the license on record, and check the agency's site for current requirements.
